San Gregorio State Beach is often strewn with driftwood is a great place for beachcombing, beach play and bird watching in the adjacent estuary. Pomponio State Beach is know for its wide sand lots of gently-sloping sand at the base of high sandstone bluffs and a small lagoon faces onto roaring surf. Bean Hollow State Beach has some of the best tidepooling on the California coast, with lots of craggy rocks just below the surface, a walking path between the two sections of this beach where on the southern end, seals are perched on the ocean rocks and is the home of the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve.
